DO '08 is over! I almost expected to be bored sitting there watching people pass me by, but time flew by. I had lots of fun but I didn't get to shop around enough... ;_; I managed to earn back the money I spent on printing everything, which is nice.
Lessee... a overview of the day... I woke up at 8am and stayed in bed until nearly 8:30am... so I had a rushed breakfast, then my dad picked up ~Kamairie and took us to Mercure Hotel. We arrived just in time for the 9:30am group photo, and after that we slowly unpacked until 10am when people started coming in.
At first people just flipped through our stuff and didn't buy anything... so I thought that would be what the rest of the day would be like, but eventually the sales picked up (badges and sketchbooks, mostly). Almost nobody bought prints, which is a shame considering my prints were rather cheap... though they didn't print properly either so that may have contributed to it.
Also did a bunch of sketch commissions, tried not to take too long on them since they were only $5 and I measure my commission prices by the time it takes. A few people asked for the $2 chibi commissions (i.e. console chibi/OS chibi style) I was doing which was nice because they only take a few minutes to draw and everyone loves them because they're so cute (they all look the same kinda, but who cares).
The pianist there played well... it was a shame she only had a keyboard to work with, because whenever she played hard there would be a huge BANG noise on the speakers, whereas on a piano it wouldn't have been nearly as intrusive. That aside, it was good.
A couple of friends came near lunchtime and two of them manned our table for us while we went to lunch and basically stayed til the end as assistants. At the end there was freebies aplenty, though I didn't get that many because I couldn't be bothered going around. Oh well, I got what I wanted, i.e. several of ~aKiRa-666's postcards (which are godly), and !triggermann's Bioshock poster which I had been eyeing.
All in all, it was great fun. Now I just need to wait for photos to start getting posted, but that won't be til tomorrow probably.
Thanks to everyone who bought something from me! Your support is much appreciated, and spurs me on to create better stuff for next year.
